Hi friends! Whoa, it has been a while since my last post. I never mean to take these breaks in between posts but alas, here we are.
A couple weeks ago, we purchased our dining furniture (FINALLY) and I thought I would do a post about my inspiration for the space. While I was perusing the world of Pinterest for inspiration, I knew that I wanted to follow the traditional style that I have throughout the house and a mix between formal and casual.
The Inspiration
When I came across this image on Pinterest, my immediate thought was “THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I WANT!”. In true Vicky shopping taste, when I clicked the image and saw that it was Restoration Hardware and the price tag, I cringed a little. You can ask Sergio, this happens often where I tend to pick up expensive stuff without meaning too. Which then leads me down a spiral trying to recreate the look at a cheaper cost!
Once I found my inspiration for the room, I started scouring ALL THE SITES to see how can recreate the look with my own spin without completely breaking the bank or driving Sergio to the casket prematurely.
The Items
FURNITURE | I was able to find this dining room set that was similar in color and style (with the exception of the marble top) at Haverty’s. Still pricey but some $$$ less than the Restoration Hardware set. And, you know my “don’t pay full price” approach, we purchased it when they were on sale. We went with the 108 length for the table, the oval back chairs and the buffet.
LIGHTING | For the light fixture, I searched Wayfair which has been my go to for lighting in this house and didn’t really find anything that stood out and had good reviews. I ended up finding this chandelier from Home Depot that could work but I may see if there are any light fixture shops locally to see other options.
DECOR | So we have a few items that are currently stored in closets that I will be using in this room such as the mirrors that I purchased several years ago from Ballard Designs that was previously in our foyer in the old house. We have a rug in the room right now that is very similar to the one pictured in the image above. I would like to purchase two pillows to put on the arm chairs that we will have on both sides of the buffet when we are not using them.
Our furniture should arrive the first week of May. I can’t wait to have it here and get this room looking like a dining room! The room has been furnitureless since moving in a year ago and I suspect that the pups think this is their playroom. It will be a sad day for them when that happens.
I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe and healthy.
