Kitchen Inspiration Board

Thanks to this pandemic and the stay at home order, we’ve had a lot of time to plan home projects and do little updates throughout the house.

One of my first focus areas of the house was our kitchen. When I saw the kitchen when we toured the house, my first thought was “the pictures online DON’T do this kitchen justice”. It was much bigger! Lots of cabinets AND an island. I loved that it had white cabinets. While it had black granite countertops, which wouldn’t have been my top choice, I didn’t hate them. The appliances, light fixtures and cabinet knobs needed updates. Nothing super major. Overall, it had great potential.

As I started coming up with ideas for updating the kitchen, I immediately thought about the Courtly Check Mackenzie Childs tea kettle which I LOVE and wanted to get one day (Sergio got it for me for Christmas). That tea kettle pretty much became my muse for my kitchen inspiration board.

When I started putting together this inspiration board, I wanted to have black and gold hardware to compliment the gold in the tea kettle and black countertops. As I searched for light fixtures, I came across this chandelier for the breakfast nook that was probably a little out of my comfort zone but really caught my attention. I showed it to Sergio and he thought it was pretty cool which made me feel better about it.

I have always been a fan of the French Country/Parisian design which is what I think of when I look at the black and white pattern. In the future, I would like to get a bistro dining set with those chairs for our breakfast nook. It won’t be any time soon because we have other furniture that we need to get first. One day.
