A few people have asked “How are Gracie and Addie adjusting to North Carolina and our recent move?” and the short answer is great!
The cooler climates of North Carolina are doing them well. They Gracie actually likes going on walks past the front yard. Not that I fully blame her, I myself didn’t like taking them for walks in the Florida heat. I can’t imagine being fully covered in all the hair and low to the ground. Even poor Addie, who is our little wild dog and loves to go on whatever adventure if it meant getting a treat at the end, would come back into the house and collapse on the tile floor to cool down. But here, when they get back into the house they are extra frisky and start doing laps around the house. Sounds cute, right? Except for the barking that is amplified by the floors and empty house. I can only handle it for so long and then pick one of them up and wait for the energy to calm down.
As far as adjusting to the new surroundings, it took them about a week to feel comfortable. We have pretty anxious dogs as it is (I won’t point fingers as to who’s to blame) and when things are out of their routine, they cry/whine/pester non-stop. Probably the most stressful part of the move from the rental to our house now were the dogs. No exaggeration. In hindsight, we probably should have brought them to visit the house and get familiar with the scents prior to the move. Between the new smells, bigger rooms and wood floors, there was just too much for them to take in at once.
However, they are cute. And for as much as they drive my insane, I couldn’t love them more. These pups don’t know how good they have it, I tell ya!
Stay say friends.
