Hello friends! Today, being the first of the month, I felt inspired to put together a Christmas bucket list.
1. Drink Hot Chocolate
Are you a hot chocolate with water or hot chocolate with milk? Milk is a MUST for me. Sergio is a non-dairy alternative type of drinker. It’s so nice to actually experience cool evening where I can enjoy a cup of hot chocolate without melting!
2. Send Christmas Cards
This year we didn’t take family pictures to get fancy for photo cards so we will be doing it the ol’ fashioned way of purchasing Christmas cards. I am one of those people that loves sending snail mail and getting festive on the envelopes.
3. Decorate our home for Christmas
If you read my last post, we’ve technically already done this but what’s a Christmas bucket list without Christmas decorating?
4. Drive around town and look at Christmas lights
The day after Thanksgiving, the neighbors in our neighborhood busted out ALL the Christmas lights and decor. They mean business when it comes to the holidays and I AM HERE FOR IT. Unfortunately, I blew the decor budget with the inside of our home and received the lecture from Sergio that “we have done enough spending on decor and will have to wait til next year to do more”. But I’ve already enjoyed some lights in our neighborhood and can’t wait to drive around the town to see more!
5. Decorate a gingerbread house
This is a tradition we’ve been doing for the past couple years. I chuckled a bit while putting the collage together because NONE of our gingerbread houses have looked as pretty as the one in that image.
6. Bake Christmas treats
Let’s be honest, this is more of a Sergio activity. He does the baking in this household. However, my contribution is picking out the recipes and consuming the baked treats. I personally am 100% okay with this arrangement.
7. Roast marshmallows for smores
We have a fire pit that we haven’t used in the 10 years that we’ve owned it. Honestly, having a fire pit in Florida is pretty pointless. Well, we will be changing that this month!
8.Wrap Christmas gifts
This is an obvious activity for the holiday but I LOVE wrapping gifts and make it a whole big deal. Plus now, I have a nice little work space area in my girl cave (my office) where I can spread out all the paper, ribbon and embellishments to wrap gifts. Now as I think about this, since we won’t be seeing friends this year, I guess only Sergio will be able to enjoy all the nicely decorated gifts. Ha!
9.Watch a Christmas movies
There are some favorites that I love to watch like A Christmas Story and Elf. Of course, there are the cheesy Hallmark-esque movies on Netflix that I have seen. Let me know if there are any that we definitely should watch!
Something else that we typically do every year is donate toys or sponsor a child through our work office. Now that we are virtual, not sure that will be an option. I will need to do some research of places in the area that we could drop off toys or maybe donate to a food bank.
Hopefully, I’ve been able to inspire you with some fun Christmas activities. If you have any activities that we should consider doing, please share!
