After several failed attempts to hire a contractor to do some of the home projects we had on our vision board, we have decided to put a pause on those projects and instead focus our efforts on projects that we can tackle on our own. Well, fingers crossed we are able to!
Our first project is to replace all the doorknobs and hinges in our house. Currently, they are all that 90’s gold brass color. NOT the pretty antique gold that is all the rage right now. We want to switch them to an antique bronze to compliment the light fixtures and cabinet hardware we have throughout the house.
A few weeks ago we visited a location in the area that specializes in all things door hardware. It was great to see the hardware in person and get ideas of what we would want to have in our house. We also had a chance to speak with someone there about brands/price ranges and we are leaning towards the Schlage brand.
There are two knobs that we want. Lever style throughout the house like hallway/bath/bedroom and then glass knob for closets. Here are the two options that we landed on.
Since our house and decor style is more traditional, I wanted the trim to have some sort of design versus it being just a straight rectangle or circle. But I also didn’t want it too ornate. I thought the Camelot trim was a good in between option.
We went last Friday and put in the order. Now, we shall watch tutorials on YouTube on how to install door knobs and hinges while we wait for the order to be ready!
