Happy Monday friends! I am kick-starting this week with part 1 of my 2020 Holiday Tour series. Today, we are starting with the living room. I hope you are comfortable and have a cup of coffee/tea in hand because there are a LOT of pictures in this post!
In my Christmas Decoration Inspiration post, I shared that for our living room, I wanted to incorporate blues/whites/reds into my decor to tie in with all the blue and white chinoiserie I have. Not to toot my horn buttttt “Toot toot!”. I am so happy with the results!
The Mantle
This is my first time having a mantle to decorate and I was really excited about it! I purchased this garland from Michaels that had the white flowers and berries that I have use in my decor in years past.
I did add some more greenery/berries from other arrangements that I had to make it fuller. I also included a couple blue ornaments that I used on the tree to tie everything together.
I purchased these battery powered lights that I purchased from Hobby Lobby. I went with the micro ones because I didn’t want it to overpower the garland but honestly, I think next year I will get bigger bulbs. They are hard to see at night.
The Tree
We’ve had this tree for several years now. I love that it’s a skinny tree. It doesn’t take up a lot of space and fit perfectly in this corner. I would really love a flocked tree but that’s a hard no with Sergio because of the mess. Boo!
I’ve gotten the question of what do you do to fill in the gaps that always happen. My trick: ribbon, florals, and large ornaments! I will tuck the large ornaments inside the tree, then tuck and layer the ribbons. Depending on how you layer in the ribbon, it may be easier to cut shorter strips of the ribbon vs trying to work with the full roll of ribbon. Oh! Make sure to use wired ribbon. Easier to arrange.
Did you spot the leopard print? That’s right. I sprinkled in some of my favorite print.
The Console Table
The console table got spruced up as well. I pretty much had everything with the exception of the florals/berries in the vases.
When I was initially planning on decorating the mirror, I wanted to hang a wreath from the top and have it lay on the center. However, I couldn’t find a wreath that I liked. Then, while walking through the aisles of Hobby Lobby, I got the idea of using these arrangements I had used previously for our outdoor lights. They are two separate arrangements and with a little bit of pipe cleaners, I was able to add it to the top and make it look like its’ one!
The Details
Something as simple as a little ribbon can really dress up any existing decor that you have. So easy!
I hope that you enjoyed this post! Can’t wait to show you others areas of the house. Make sure to come back!
Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to share any other tips or tricks.
